Earthquake

Dan and I experienced our first earthquake yesterday! We were watching the news yesterday morning around 7:15 and all of a sudden there was this rumbling sound. It only shook for a second then it was over. Kinda crazy huh? I guess it was a level 4 and happened 15 miles from us.

Angels vs Mets

Dan and I went to our first major league baseball game! We watched the Angels play the Mets, unfortunately the Angels lost :(
We went to the game with our friends (that we met in our ward) Cindy and Seth! They are huge fans. We learned about all the cool things to do at games, which scalpers were the best to buy from, and where to go after games to spot players, as well as other fun facts! The coolest thing was that our tickets were dirt cheap, try $3.00 each!

Hiking Mount Rubidoux

Dan and I felt like hiking Saturday morning so we went to Mount Rubidoux! It is located smack dab in the middle of Riverside. It is about a mile up to the top, so it isn't like any mountains that you would hike in Utah, it is more of a hill! We were suprised to see how many people exercise there!
There was this cool monument at the top of the mountain. It was built in 1925 and it is all about world peace. Around the top of the tower they carved into the stone are the names of a bunch of countries. It was really fun to look at! There was a giant cross on the top of the hill! It was kind of an interesting hike, on the side of rocks there were scriptures.

Through the smog you get a pretty good look of Riverside! It was really fun to get to the top because you can look on all sides of the mountain and you see the surrounding parts of Riverside.

A New Addition to Our Family!

I promised Dan a new plant for his birthday, and yesterday he held me to that promise. So now we have yet another addition to Dan's plant obsession, or family as he likes to call it. His new baby is a Canary Island Date Palm Tree, 41 inches tall, green leaves and gives an exotic look to our balcony. In a couple of months Dan hopes to transplant it to a bigger pot with even more plants to make a beautiful arrangement.

We are official!

According the the DMV in the State of California we are officiall legally living here! We both passed the DMV written test. Daniel aced it, and I passed it by the skin of my teeth! We also finished registering our car. We had to get a 'smog test' then went to the DMV for the inspection, it was quite the process. So we are really proud of our Cali licence plates and driver licenses!

I have been tagged!

I have been challenged to a game of tag by my sister-in-law Becky! This involves blogging 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 current obsessions/collections, and 3 random suprising facts about yourself. Those of you who are reading this right now, consider yourself also tagged! If you have time to play it is really fun to learn more about each other! So here is goes....

3 Joys-
*Dan
*Keeping in touch with family
*I love music, whether it be listening to it or creating it!

3 Fears-
*Drowning (for this reason I am not a fan of deep water!)
*Spiders
*Dan dying (every once in awhile I will have a dream that Dan dies, I wake up crying. Sorry, that is so depressing!)

3 Current Obsessions-
*Finding a job
*Eating ice cream (I don't know if it is the heat down here in Riverside or what, but I always feel like eating ice cream!)
* Sun Bathing (We have a pool at our new appartment, as well as the beach that is about 45 minutes away. It is so relaxing to lie in the sun!)

3 Surprising Facts About Me-
* I like the smell of skunk! (I know that is strange, but I have met a couple of people that feel the same way!)
* One of my favorite foods is mashed potatoes.
* I like all kinds of music. I like everything from New Age, Classical, Alternative, Rock, Techno, and Hip Hop (the fairly normal) to Latin, Arabic, Turkish, and Indian (the not so normal!). However I rarely like Country and Rap.
