Two Short Years

Jack's second birthday was Wednesday. Time just flies when you are having fun, I can't believe that it has been two years since he came into our lives. The day was spent opening gifts, playing with gifts, and decorating for the party.

While Jack was napping I put together this cake. It was my first attempt at a kids birthday cake. He likes Mickey so of course he liked the cake :)
Jack had so much fun with all his little friends. All the kids loved to help Jack open his gifts!

The next day I asked Jack how he liked his birthday, he said he liked it and that he wanted more birthday. Isn't that always how it goes :)

My Happiness

I recently have been looking forward to Friday each week. Not only does it mean that the weekend is here, but it also means that we get to go to the farmers market. Nothing beats listening to live music, trying fresh samples of local produce, and buying yummy food for my weekly menu. We always walk away happy with the deals and quality of food that we scored.

Where does food come from?

Recently I have been teaching Jack where his food comes from. We talk about it and watch youtube clips as a visual aid. Here is what he has learned so far...

Yes, we buy the cheap syrup and it is made from corn! Jack is going to learn soon enough that most of our food does come from corn :)

Shaver Lake

We had no plans Saturday afternoon so we spontaneously decided to drive 45 minutes to check out Shaver Lake. Jack was excited to find these huge pine cones!
After walking by the lake Jack discovered the joy of throwing rocks and sticks into the water. Dan made sure he didn't throw himself into the water.
