The Week of Spring Break

Last week was Spring Break for Dan, which meant a lot of fun for Jack and me! We have been wanting to check out this hike near Palm Springs, it is called Ladder Canyon. It is a 5 mile loop hike that starts off in this narrow canyon in which you climb several ladders.

Jack had fun just chillin' the whole way while his dad carried him!We thought he looked hilarious like this!

On our way back home from Ladder Canyon, we stopped off at Oasis Date Gardens. We got to see where they harvest dates and got to have a famous date shake which was pretty yummy!
On Thursday we went to Cal Poly Pomona and check out their Farm Store. We got fresh veggies and even got to pick our own strawberries which was really fun!

On our way back from Pomona we stopped by a Dutch Bakery we heard about. They had some of our favorite Dutch imported food which we couldn't pass up!

On Friday we went to see March Field Museum that is located about 10 mins from us however we have never been. They had a lot of neat things to look at. The planes were our favorite!

On Saturday we went to the Riverside Airport and watched the Air Show. Dan and Jack were able to sit in a Helicopter :)

Happenings

It is getting warmer every day so we decided it was time to get our little white boy a hat to block the sun! I got this stylin' Nike hat at Burlington Coat Factory for 5$! A love a good deal. Speaking a good deals, this cool contraption was on sale for $15 and I had a 5$ coupon!

My family is always begging for more movies of Jack. Here is one of Jack climbing up our front stairs, he just started doing it while we were hanging outside one day.

After church on Sunday my boys needed to release some energy! Jack loves playing with his daddy!

Hindu Women's Conference

Today I went to a Hindu Women's Conference in Chino Hills. Their Hindu Women's Organization invited a couple women from our stake to attend. I really wanted to go and it was an amazing experience! We were taken on a tour, our guide was very informative and explained a lot of the symbolism. Below is the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (place of worship). Everything was so ornate and beautiful. I was allowed to take pictures of the outside but not inside, I really wish you could have seen it! Each time that we went into a building we had to remove our shoes.

This was their conference hall. The conference was on "Nurturing Families, Shaping Communities". The speakers were very good. It is interesting to learn about the similarities between our two religions.

This was one of the fountains. The seashell symbolizes peace.

Sister Ward and I really stuck out. We were one of the few that weren't dressed in the beautiful traditional clothing. I wish I could have taken more pictures of these beautiful women in their dresses and jewels on their forheads! If you ever wondered about the purpose of the dot or jewel on the forehead is called tilaka and is considered the minds eye or idea of meditation and spiritual enlightenment.

Oma & Opa

Dan's parents (Oma & Opa) came down from Utah to visit! We went and visited some fun sites in Los Angeles. The Getty has beautiful gardens and art galleries. Below is 'Iris es' by Van Gogh. We also went to see the La Brea Tar Pits. In L.A. there are a bunch a tar pits where they have found tons of fosils and bones from 40,000 years ago! It was really an interesting museum. Awhile ago Dan was watching the travel channel where he heard about Pink's hotdog stand. We decided to check it out. It is a pretty popular place, we waited in line for probably 30 mins. It has been awhile since I have posted! I have been busy with other things lately and have neglected my blog. However I am proud to announce that last week I started and finished (or caught up) Jack's scrapbook! I have also been trying to educate myself in the art of couponing which has been keeping me preoccupied. Jack is still as cute as ever (says his mom)!
