$15 Date

UC Riverside had discount Angels tickets and Dan and I took advantage of it! Yep, we paid $1.50 for each ticket! Then with a $7 dinner and $5 parking we had ourselves a pretty fun date! We invited Seth and Cindy to come along :) Here we are in our free Angels hats that they were giving out at the game!

4 Miles Underground!

While we were in Utah we decided to embark on an adventure! My Step-dad, Russ, works in a coal mine near Salina, Utah and I have always wanted to take a tour of the mine and we were able to do it while we were visiting! Here is Dan and I in our cute outfits! They were warned that a pregnant woman was coming so they gave me these huge coveralls which could have fit a grown man! Dan thought I looked hilarious from behind. We had to sign in under a number and keep that numbered tag with us. If something happened in the mine they would know we were there and be able to identify the body. Luckily nothing happened:)Here is Russ showing us a map of the mine. It is seriously like a city underground! Here I am posing with my little sister and my mom. Notice that most of our pictures are before we went in the mine, we didn't look pretty after the 5 hour tour!

Before we went into the mine we had to go through a safety course. Here we are learning how to use our breathing gear just in case of a fire. It was comforting to have them while underground, but they had to be on our belts at all times and they were heavy. I was very relieved to have it off at the end!
We drove a truck around the mine. This is what the tunnels look like.

Here is one of the eating areas where the miners can hang out.

It was hard to get good pictures in the mine since the coal dust, water, or darkness would usually make the picture unclear. A huge machine cuts the coal out of the walls and it is transported on this belt up to the top!
Another cool thing we saw in the mine was a dinosaur print in the ceiling, from the bottom up if that makes sense! I also thought it was amazing that a mine could have waterfalls from the ground water and rainfall from the surface! We had a great time, thanks Russ!

Anniversary #3

Today is our third anniversary. It really seems like time has flown right by. It seems like it was just recently that Dan was picking me flowers for me after crashing his bike into a little meadow in American Fork Canyon on our first date. But that was nearly four years ago!

The other day Dan and I were going through wedding pictures and talking about the day. Dan turned to me and asked, "Why does everybody always say that their wedding day was the best day of their life?" then he added, "Cause I can think of like a hundred days since then that have been a lot more fun!" We started thinking about the day and reminiscing about the crappy things that happened that day. Here's a basic rundown, in case you care: Waking up at around 3:00 a.m. to get to my hair appointment by 4:00, Dan slept on the couch while I made awkward conversation with a girl I had only met once before, then I stepped in a puddle of her dog's urine...real nice. Then we jetted through the snow (in April...really) up to the Bountiful temple to be there by 7:30 to get ready for our 9:00 sealing. We both agree that the ceremony was of course the highlight of the day. That was then followed by smiling and pictures and smiling and pictures and smiling and pictures. The snow was falling, it was cold, I couldn't breath cause of that stupid corset, oh ya did I mention the smiling and the pictures. When it was time to leave the temple, the snow was still coming down, and as we drove down from the Bountiful foothills Dan (who probably wasn't paying as much attention as he should have to the road) slid right through an intersection when the light was red (luckily everyone else on the road was paying attention and we drove on without any problems). Then the reception which consisted of smiling and pictures and smiling and talking to people that we didn't know but our parents did and smiling and hating smiling when we really didn't feel like smiling any more. When the reception was finally over, we started to pack stuff up and get ready to go, when we realized that someone had toilet papered our car, which mixed with the snow mixed with rain made quite the mess. Dan was all sorts of upset cause all the emotions of the day finally caught up to him, and they caught up to me too, cause I just started balling. Added to this all was the stress of dealing with divorced parents throughout the day, and hoping that no one was getting offended. A little side note, the day after on our way to our honeymoon in Colorado we hit a stupid deer which put a little damper on that trip (again Dan probably wasn't paying attention to the road like he should have:)

Just so you know, we really aren't traumatized by our wedding day, we really just think its a pretty good story. But maybe you can understand where Dan was coming from, because here are some days that we have enjoyed much more then our wedding day: Days spent hiking in Moab and St. George. Days spent camping in the Uinta's. The day that I graduated from BYU and we celebrated by spending a couple days in Park City. The day at Disneyland a year ago. Days this summer spent laying out and playing at the beach. The day we found out I was finally pregnant. Days spent with family and friends. Days spent just being lazy and doing nothing at all. So I think in the end I agree with Dan our wedding day definately wasn't the best day of my life, cause we have had plenty of days that have been better. To sum it all up I guess I just have to say:

Being married is a heckuva lot better than getting married!

Happy Anniversary Dan, and here's to even better days to come!
