Lazy Saturday

Last Saturday we were kind of bored, so we called up our friends Seth and Cindy and hit up downtown Riverside. There really isn't much to see or do there, but we found enough to keep us occupied for a couple of hours. We visited the Mission Inn, which is actually a pretty cool and historic hotel. Lots of movie stars and other celebrities as well as Presidents have stayed there. I think the owner is a staunch Republican because of all the pictures of presidents who had visited, there wasn't a Democrat in the bunch. So we fit right in, even though Dan pretends he's a liberal sometimes. The hotel itself is pretty old, but it was super posh inside. It even came fully equipped with nude statues that made Dan blush a little. Here are some of the pictures:

I just thought this was a cool door.

Dan was his usual uncooperative self when it came to wanting to take pictures (if I had my way this blog would have twice as many pictures), but he stood still long enough next to this stain-glassed mural that I had to snap a shot.

This is the shrine of St. Francis. I have no idea who St. Francis is, but he must be pretty cool to have his own shrine!

This is the hotel's crown jewel. It is a chair that was made special for President Taft. He was a pretty large guy, so of course he needed a pretty large chair. Dan and I both fit on the chair with plenty of room to spare. Dan wanted to take the chair home just in case he puts on a few pounds.
